Sedgwick Saddle Leather

Full Vegetable Tanned Leather. Traditionally tanned in a variety of finishes to customer requirements.

Most Saddle Leathers from J & E Sedgwick & Co Ltd is drum dyed and pre –oiled.

There are many types of colours and finishes that can be applied to our leather. Whilst we are happy to supply customers with any colour and finish possible, these may not be desirable to the leather.

We aim to supply the leather in a variety of colours. These are prepared by drum dyeing the leather first. This enables the grain and the flesh of the leather to have the desired depth of colour, thus ensuring a superb look to the leather.

We can produce the solids of the leather to match the Panel & Seat Hide; this will require a pigmented finish to both items. The Saddle will then be consistent in colour.

The other finish is a dyed aniline finish; we call this the Windsor Range.

Again the leather is correctly drum dyed to a colour required. The grain is hand stained and then either printed or left with the full grain exposed. A thin, level application of selected oils is applied to the grain and left to migrate fully through the grain and cross section of the leather. The colour is then sealed and special Dubbin is applied to the grain and flesh.

The result is fantastic rich leather that can be easily oiled again and which shows the beauty of the leather.
